Alright guys, the 4th is done for another year. How’d everybody’s shows go? I shot about 30 cakes and a bunch of shells in the backyard. Neighbors loved it. Had one mortar tip over on me though — shell went sideways into a tree. Tree’s fine, my pride took a hit lol. Anyone else have any good (or bad) stories from the weekend? What was the best thing you lit up? For me it was this 500g cake called American Thunder. Solid break for the price.
Man, the 4th was wild over here. Did a show for like 40 people in the cul-de-sac. Had one of those 200-shot rapid fire cakes — thing went off in like 20 seconds flat. Crowd went nuts. Also had a shell lodge in the tube and I thought I was gonna lose a finger lol. Had to tap the tube and it finally went. Gotta remember to clean those tubes between shots. What’s that American Thunder cake? Never heard of it.
Dude I feel you on the mortar tip-over lol. Had one go sideways into my neighbor’s fence last year. He was cool about it but man was that embarrassing. This year I used a rack instead of individual tubes and it made a huge difference. Everything stayed put. Best thing I shot was probably this big 6-inch shell I got from a buddy — gold willow with crackle. Took like 5 seconds to bloom. Gorgeous. Spent way too much money this year but honestly worth it.
