Not gonna lie, I used to be embarrassed buying fireworks at a tent because half the boxes looked like they were designed in Windows Paint in 1998. But I’ve noticed the last couple seasons a lot of brands stepped up their packaging game. Some of the cakes have box art that actually looks cool enough to keep on a shelf.
I grabbed some stuff for America 250 and a few of the packages had legit detailed illustrations, foil accents, that kinda thing. Made me actually want to keep the boxes after.
Is this a trend or just certain brands finally caring? Anyone else notice this or am I the only one who pays attention to the box lol
I actually noticed this too. Some of the America 250 branded stuff had way better packaging than usual. The Jakes Platinum series boxes have been looking real clean lately too. Kinda reminds me of how craft beer labels got all fancy a few years back ??feels like fireworks are going through the same thing.
The one thing I hate tho is when the box looks amazing but the actual cake performs average lol. Had that happen with a canister shell set last year ??coolest box on the shelf but the breaks were meh.
I work at a seasonal tent and honestly the packaging thing is kinda funny to me cuz we sell some stuff where the box is clearly trying to make up for what’s inside lol. Had a few brands this year where the box had all these foil accents and cool graphics but the cake itself was like… average at best.
That said I do think it helps sell product. People grab the cool looking boxes way more than the plain ones even if the plain ones are better. It’s just retail psychology man.
Kinda curious if the China manufacturers are doing more custom packaging now or if it’s the US brands requesting it. Heard some factories in Liuyang started offering full custom print runs for smaller MOQs which might explain why we’re seeing more variety.
I’m kinda the opposite honestly – I don’t really care what the box looks like as long as the product inside is good. I’ve had some cakes with the coolest looking boxes that shot like garbage and some generic looking ones that were amazing.
That said, I did notice the America 250 stuff had way better box art than usual. The foil accents were a nice touch. But I ain’t keeping the boxes lol, they go straight in the trash or recycling.
What bugs me more is when the box is misleading – like has a huge picture of a 500g cake but the actual thing inside is only 200g. I feel like some brands are getting worse about that.
