Bought a case of 500g cakes from a local wholesaler and half of them had weird fuse delays. Like I’d light one and it would sit there for a good 8-10 seconds before the first shot. The others in the same case fired fine though.
Is this a QC thing from the factory or could it be storage conditions? They were kept indoors so I don’t think humidity was an issue. Just wondering if anyone else noticed this with the 2025/2026 production runs.
tbh i had the same problem with a batch from World Class this spring. some cakes the fuse burned instantly, others i swear i counted to like 12 Mississippi before anything happened.
I think it’s a factory QC thing, not storage. Visco fuse quality varies a ton between production runs and if they rush to fill orders (which they probably did after the America 250 demand), you get inconsistencies. Annoying but not dangerous, just makes choreographing a show harder.
honestly i think a lot of it depends on the brand. Been buying mostly Brothers stuff lately and their fuse timing is way more consistent than some of the budget brands I used to grab. The cheap no-name 500g cakes are a total crapshoot – some fire fine, others delay like crazy.
i actually started timing my cakes with a stopwatch before shows just so I know what to expect. Sounds obsessive but it’s saved my choreography a couple times lol.
