Got a few 500g cakes stored in my basement but the labels are curling up like crazy. Summer humidity in the midwest is no joke. The firework’s fine but now I can’t read half of what I bought lol.

Anything you guys put on the labels to protect them? Or do you just take a picture when you first get em?

I just take photos of everything I buy with my phone as soon as I open the box. Way easier than trying to save the labels. Then you got a record of what you have and the brand/effect names for next year.

For actually protecting them though — clear packing tape over the label works in a pinch. Not pretty but it gets the job done.

I’ve had good luck with those big Ziploc bags for the smaller cakes. Not the gallon ones but the 20-gallon storage bags they make for clothes. Toss a silica packet in there and seal it up — been doing this for a couple seasons now and labels stay mint.

Basement’s the real problem though. You want airflow. If you got em on a concrete floor the moisture just wicks right up. Stick a pallet under em at minimum.
