Been looking at some wholesale stuff and every supplier gives a different answer. Some say a few weeks, others are quoting like 2-3 months. Is that just shipping time or does customs and clearance eat into it too? Anyone dealt with a container order before and can give me a realistic timeline?

Realistically plan on 6-10 weeks door to door. The ocean transit from most Chinese ports to the west coast is only like 2-3 weeks, but loading, customs clearance, trucking all add up. The 2-3 month quotes are usually conservative because of the 1.4G hazardous material certification and inspections. Never trust a supplier who says ‘two weeks’ lol.

Depends a lot on whether you’re buying FCL (full container load) or LCL. LCL takes way longer cause they wait to consolidate your stuff with other cargo. If you’re going FCL it’s a lot more predictable. Also that 2-3 month number usually includes the supplier’s production lead time, not just shipping.
