So I’m driving from PA to Ohio next month and was thinking about grabbing some stuff from a Phantom store on the way. My buddy says it’s totally fine as long as they’re consumer grade, but another guy at work told me he got pulled over and had his whole stash confiscated. Anyone know what the actual law says about crossing state lines with 1.4G fireworks in your trunk? Not trying to get a felony over some roman candles lol.

Yeah it depends on the states involved. PA to Ohio should be fine since they both allow consumer fireworks, but the feds technically require you to declare them if you’re transporting for commercial purposes. For personal use nobody really cares tbh. Just don’t speed and you’ll be fine lol.

The real issue is if you go through a state that bans them. Like if you took a detour through NY you’d be screwed.

Good points above. One thing people overlook is that some states have quantity limits even if fireworks are legal there. PA is pretty relaxed but Ohio has rules on how much you can possess without a permit.

I’d also check out the Rules section on the forum – there’s a thread there that covers the newer ATF guidelines for interstate transport. The short version: 1.4G is generally ok for personal use between states that both allow them, but NEVER take them through a state where they’re banned. That’s where people get into real trouble.
