Planning a road trip next month and figured I’d grab some fireworks while I’m out of state since they’re cheaper there. But now I’m wondering if I can even drive em back across the border legally. Anyone know the actual rules on this? Kinda don’t wanna get pulled over with a trunk full of mortars and have no idea what to say lol.
Honestly the state line thing is where it gets murky. Each state treats consumer fireworks totally different. Some states flat out ban 1.4G, others only allow sparklers lol. Even if it’s legal where you buy em, driving into a state where they’re banned is technically a no-go. I’d check the exact states you’re driving through before loading up.
Also even if it’s legal, don’t drive with em loose in the passenger cabin. Keep everything in a closed trunk or truck bed, away from anything that could spark. And for the love of god don’t smoke while hauling a case of mortars lol. Cops are usually more annoyed about it being visible than anything else tbh.
