So here’s the situation: my brother-in-law lives in PA and got a crazy deal on some 1.4G cakes from a wholesaler out there. I’m in Ohio. Thinking of driving out this weekend to pick up like 8-10 cases and bring em back for our Labor Day show.
I know PA to OH isn’t the wild west or anything, but I’m a little sketched out about what happens if a state trooper pulls me over. Do they even care about consumer stuff if you’re not hauling commercial quantities? Anyone ever had an actual experience with this, or am I overthinking it?
PA to OH is honestly one of the safer routes you could take. Both states are 1.4G friendly and the troopers along I-76/I-80 see this kinda thing all the time. Just don’t be dumb about it — keep the stuff in the trunk (not the backseat), don’t smoke in the car, and for the love of god don’t speed.
8-10 cases isn’t gonna raise any eyebrows. It’s when you’re hauling a trailer full that they start asking for a hazmat endorsement. You’re fine.
Ron’s right — PA to OH is about as low-risk as interstate fireworks transport gets. Both states are permissive on 1.4G for personal use. Just keep your receipt with you so you can show it’s personal consumer stuff and not commercial inventory.
One thing people overlook: check if your car insurance covers it. Most personal auto policies don’t explicitly exclude consumer fireworks for personal transport, but it’s worth knowing. And yeah, trunk only. Backseat is asking for trouble if you brake hard.
