Man I don’t know about you guys but around here (Ohio) every fireworks stand I hit is either totally cleaned out or has nothing but the cheap junk nobody wanted. I’m talking the stuff that sat on shelves for weeks even during peak season lol.

I usually stock up on 500g cakes for backyard shows and I like the better brands — think Excalibur, Blue Thunder, stuff that actually has some punch. But after the America 250 rush it’s like everything decent vanished. Even the Phantom tents near me are picked clean and they usually have stock forever.

Is this just a local thing or is everyone seeing the same? I’m wondering if I should just wait for the fall when the importers restock or if there’s some secret stash I’m missing.

Also has anyone tried ordering 500g cakes online this late in the season? Some websites still show stock but I’m sus about whether they actually have it.

Bro same boat in Indiana. Even TNT was wiped out of anything decent by like the second week of June. I ended up grabbing some online from Red Apple Fireworks and they actually had stock but shipping took forever and I almost didn’t get it in time for the 4th. Their 500g selection this year was decent tho — grabbed a couple of their Platinum series cakes and they hit pretty hard. Might be worth checking if they still have inventory. But yeah, August restock can’t come soon enough lol.

From the retail side of things — yeah we sold out of most of our good 500g cakes by like June 20 this year. The America 250 demand was nuts. We had people driving from like 3 states away lol. The warehouses are pretty picked clean right now but most suppliers are gonna restock around late August for fall season. If you can wait a month you’ll have way more options. Otherwise check the smaller mom-and-pop stands that might not have cleared out as fast — they sometimes have stock the big chains don’t.

Been hearing this from a lot of people. Most distributors I talk to say August-September is when the next wave hits, but it’s gonna be slim pickings until then. America 250 really cleaned out inventory across the board. What I tell customers is to look at the smaller 200g cakes – way more availability and honestly some of them perform just as good for backyard shows. World Class and Brothers still had stock at a few places I checked last week.

The 500g shortage is real and it’s hitting everyone up and down the chain, not just consumers. A lot of importers sold out their containers early this season and the restock window is tight. If you’re hunting, the blog’s got a rundown on what actually made it into the country this year versus what got delayed – the supply side explains a lot of why shelves are thin.
