OK so this might be a dumb question but I keep seeing people order big online hauls and I’m wondering how that works legally. I know a few states basically ban fireworks entirely and obviously those people can’t get them shipped. But for the states where consumer fireworks are legal, can anyone just order a case and have it dropped at the front door? Or are there states where it’s technically legal to possess but they make you pick it up from a licensed dealer? Just trying to figure out whether my state is one of the mail-order friendly ones before I commit to a big order.
The mail-order thing honestly depends on the state more than people realize. There’s a handful of states where it’s illegal to have them shipped in, full stop, even if possessing is fine. I remember reading about it when I moved. Your best bet is to check your state AG or the actual statute. Some states only let licensed dealers import, so consumers have to buy in person. It’s not as simple as ‘legal = can ship.’

I’m in a state where it’s legal and I’ve had boxes show up at my door no issue, but I have friends a couple states over who can’t get anything shipped even though fireworks are legal there.
